TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Soil disinfestation and optimized nutrient management reduces nitrogen leaching and shapes soil microbial community composition in greenhouse cucumber production systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
High nutrient input leads to problems such as excessive accumulation of soil nutrients, and imbalance of microbial communities. However, there remains significant gaps in the impact of soil disinfestation and optimized nutrient management measures on the

Deriving Land Management Practices for Reduced Nutrient Movement from an Agricultural Watershed Using the AGNPS Model

open access: yes, 2023
The effect of nutrient management practices and the land-use system on nutrient enrichment in water resources of a hilly watershed was assessed with an event-based agricultural non-point source (AGNPS) model.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Achieving the goal of the “4‰ initiative” and agricultural sustainability by co-incorporating rice straw and Chinese milk vetch for rice production in southern China

open access: yesGeoderma
The co-incorporation of rice straw (RS) and Chinese milk vetch (CMV) has been suggested as an optimized agronomic management strategy to improve soil organic carbon (SOC) storage and agricultural sustainability.

AgRP Neurons Require Carnitine Acetyltransferase to Regulate Metabolic Flexibility and Peripheral Nutrient Partitioning

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: AgRP neurons control peripheral substrate utilization and nutrient partitioning during conditions of energy deficit and nutrient replenishment, although the molecular mechanism is unknown.

The role of variety as genetic potential in nutrient utilization

open access: yes, 2015
A container model trial was set up on sandy soil with 5 replications to study the nutrient regime of 16 wine grape varieties in a 10 year program starting in 1982 at Kecskemet-Miklostelep in the Institute for Viticulture and Oenology.

Altering nutrient utilization in animals through transgenesis [PDF]

open access: yesNutrition Research Reviews, 1999
AbstractImproved domestic animal productivity is necessary in order to provide for an increasing world population over the next two to three decades and such improvement would be aided by an increase in the efficiency of nutrient utilization. This can be achieved by conventional genetic selection protocols but progress by this approach is slow.
