An optimized method for extraction and purification of inorganic phosphate from plant material for oxygen isotope ratio analysis

open access: yesMethodsX
Compound-specific stable isotope ratio analysis of oxygen isotopes in inorganic phosphate can be used to study biological phosphorus cycling and the transformation processes controlling the fate of phosphorus. However, methods for extraction of inorganic

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Calcium—Nutrient and Messenger [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Calcium is an essential element needed for growth and development of plants under both non-stressed and stress conditions. It thereby fulfills a dual function, being not only an important factor for cell wall and membrane stability, but also serving as a second messenger in many developmental and physiological processes, including the response of ...

Nutrients in fish and possible associations with cardiovascular disease risk factors in metabolic syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Non-communicable diseases (NSDs) are responsible for two-thirds of all deaths globally, whereas cardiovascular disease (CVD) alone counts for nearly half of them.

Evaluating urea‐polyhalite and ammonium nitrate‐polyhalite fertilizers for mitigating ammonia volatilization in contrasting soils

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Ammonia (NH3) volatilization from urea‐based fertilizers reduces nitrogen use efficiency and contributes to atmospheric NH3 emissions and associated health risks.

Roadmap for Australian wastewater nutrient recovery – Towards a sustainable circular economy

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment
Tapping into wastewater for nutrient recovery is largely missing from water policy and circular economy (CE) conversations, and in particular, its incorporation of machine learning (ML).

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
