Rub Fastness of Acid Dyes on Nylon Fabrics
Several acid dyes whose molecular sizes were far different were used in this work. They were dyed with nylon fabrics and the characteristics of their rubbing-fastness were investigated. The amount of removed dyes were different from dye to dye and it had nothing to do with molecular size of dye.

A “polymer‐in‐cage” strategy transforms a zinc‐acrylate copolymer into an active pore‐modulating agent for ZIF‐8 nanoplates. The polymer actively tunes the MOF's pore structure by anchoring within its windows, while the nanoplates create tortuous pathways.

Emergency space-suit helmet [PDF]
A frusto-conically shaped distensible component is described which inflates to encircle a portion of the wearer's head and carries a collapsible member which automatically extends over the remaining portion of the head.

A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

We studied how five common immunosuppressants behave when delivered directly to a transplant site instead of systemically. Using a vascularized implant for islet transplantation, we show that local delivery protects grafts, limits drug spread to the rest of the body, and produces distinct immune signatures.

Rotationally actuated prosthetic helping hand [PDF]
A prosthetic device has been developed for below-the-elbow amputees. The device consists of a cuff, a stem, a housing, two hook-like fingers, an elastic band for holding the fingers together, and a brace.

Hierarchical Artificial Muscle with Nonlinear Elasticity for Antagonistic and Cyclic Robotics
We construct hierarchical muscles by plying nylon fibers around a heating wire. The hierarchical muscle shows a J‐shaped passive curve, which shows benefit in antagonistic muscle pair and work accumulation mechanism. We also develop a computational, first‐principle model to understand the physics of both active actuation stroke and passive J‐curve ...
