O14 Clinical applications of MRI in muscular dystrophy

Neuromuscular Disorders, 2010
In patients with neuro-muscular disorders, NMR imaging is useful to (1) assist diagnosis by identifying topographical patterns of muscle involvement and (2) determine muscular lesion progression in longitudinal studies. NMR investigations of animal models focus on this second objective and aim at characterizing precisely muscle degenerative and/or ...

The N14(p, n)O14 neutron threshold

Nuclear Physics, 1965
Abstract The threshold of the reaction N14(p, n)O14 was determined to be 6358.8±3.0 keV. The C13(p,n)N13 threshold, taken to be 3235.3±1.5 keV, was used as calibration. The Al27(p, n)Si27 threshold was measured for comparison and was found to be 5803.1±4.5 keV.

The beta-decay coupling constant and the FT-value of O14

Annals of Physics, 1962
An investigation is made of the effects of the Coulomb potential and of a short-range, charge-dependent internucleon poteniial on the O/sup +/(T = 1, T/ sub z/ = 1) yields O /sup +/(T = 1, T/sub z/ = O) beta -decay matrix element in the decay O/sup 14/ yields N/sup 14/*. It is concluded that a small ( approximately 2 or 3%) charge dependence of nuclear

In vitro models for oral malodor

Oral Diseases, 2005
We start with a description of what we mean by a model and introduce the idea of using different types of model to answer different types of questions. A model is a representation of some real phenomena and contains aspects or elements of the real system to be modelled.

O14 Junctional epidermolysis bullosa: repairing the epidermal lipid barrier

British Journal of Dermatology, 2023
Abstract Junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB) caused by loss of function mutations in basement membrane genes, including that encoding laminin-332, is among the most severe forms of epidermolysis bullosa. Affected individuals suffer from blistering from birth, leading to scarring, granulation tissue and susceptibility to infection.

Genetic and Immunochemical Studies on Escherichia coli O14:K7:H-

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1974
Acapsular (K−) mutants selected from Escherichia coli O14:K7 proved to be rough (R) forms, indicating the absence of O-specific polysaccharides in the wild type K+ strain. This suggestion was confirmed by chemical analysis and degradation studies of the lipopolysaccharides from K+ and K− strains. In order to determine the chromosomal site of the

The charge dependence of nuclear forces and the decay of O14

Nuclear Physics, 1963
A detailed re-examination of the matrix element M/sub F/ for the decay of O/sup 14/ is made, tsking into account Coulomb and other possible charge dependent forces between nucleons, including the phenomenological potential introduced by BlinStoyle and Le Tourneaux. Completely antisymmetrised wave functions are used for the various nuclear states in the

O14. MicroRNA functions: Insights from Drosophila genetics

Differentiation, 2010
The Drosophila genome is estimated to encode 152 microRNAs. This equates to about 1% of all genes. To understand their functions we have taken a systematic approach to producing microRNA mutants by targeted homologous recombination. Our approach combines conventional genetic analysis, to understand the biological process affected by the microRNA, with ...
