A Novel Topical Emollient Plus for Canine Atopic Dermatitis: A Clinical Trial Assessing Efficacy and User Acceptance

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 2, Page 293-305, April 2026.
Background: Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a common, chronic skin condition characterised by epidermal barrier dysfunction, immune dysregulation and cutaneous dysbiosis. While “emollient plus” formulations are widely used in human atopic dermatitis, their role in cAD remains underexplored. Hypothesis/Objectives: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and

Use of a Cytobrush for Sampling the Ear Canal of Dogs With Otitis Externa

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 2, Page 227-235, April 2026.
Cytological examination of the ear canal is essential for evaluating dogs with otitis externa (OE). The conventional sampling method uses a swab. However, the cytobrush (gynaecological cervical brush), already used for cytological collection from other anatomical sites, has not been adequately investigated for this purpose in dogs with OE.

Quantum Chemical Properties of Fluorouracil/XZn11O12 (X = Zn, Cu, Fe, Ni) Nanocomplexes and Interactions with Human Serum Albumin

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Adsorption of fluorouracil (5‐FU) on XZn11O12 (X = Zn, Cu, Fe, Ni) nanoclusters and its interactions with human serum albumin (HSA) have been studied using density functional theory and molecular docking. Reduced HOMO‐LUMO gap of 5‐FU@NiZn11O12 nanocomplex suggests enhanced charge transfer activity.
