Salmonella Typhimurium derived OMV nanoparticle displaying mixed heterologous O-antigens confers immunogenicity and protection against STEC infections in mice [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories
Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) is one of the major pathogens responsible for severe foodborne infections, and the common serotypes include E. coli O157, O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, and O145.

Reinvestigation of the structure of Brucella O-antigens. [PDF]

open access: yesCarbohydr Res, 2013
O-Specific polysaccharides of Brucella contain two antigenic determinants, called A and M. Most of the strains express epitope A with a small amount of epitope M, whereas Brucella melitensis strain 16 M expresses longer polymer consisting mostly of M-type epitopes.

Genetics and evolution of the Salmonella galactose-initiated set of o antigens. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
This paper covers eight Salmonella serogroups, that are defined by O antigens with related structures and gene clusters. They include the serovars that are now most frequently isolated.

Structure and genetics of Escherichia coli O antigens. [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiol Rev, 2020
Escherichia coli includes clonal groups of both commensal and pathogenic strains, with some of the latter causing serious infectious diseases. O antigen variation is current standard in defining strains for taxonomy and epidemiology, providing the basis ...

Antigenic Relationships Between Escherichia coli O Antigens O 149 to O 163 and Shigella O Antigens [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1976
O antigens O 149 to O 163 are recent additions to the Escherichia coli antigenic scheme. Their antigenic relationships with Shigella serovars were examined. O antigen identity was demonstrated between E. coli O 149 and Shigella boydii 1 and between E. coli O 152 and provisional Shigella serovar 3341-55.

Systems Biology and Pangenome of Salmonella O-Antigens. [PDF]

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Lipopolysaccharides are a major component of the outer membrane in Gram-negative bacteria. They are composed of a conserved lipid structure that is embedded in the outer leaflet of the outer membrane and a polysaccharide known as the O-antigen.

Shigella Flexneri Serotypes: O-antigen Structure, Serotype Conversion, and Serotyping Methods

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2023
Shigella flexneri is the most common cause of shigellosis in developing countries. Up to now, 23 serotypes of S. flexneri have been reported. Different serotypes result from the addition of acetyl, glucosyl, or phosphatidylethanolamine groups on the O ...

Association of the blood groups with mostly public Diseases

open access: yesKufa Journal for Nursing Sciences, 2021
The ABO blood group system is identified in 1900. Its principle that antigens as sugars physically exposed on the exterior of red blood cells *RBCs* differ between individuals, who have immunological tolerance only toward what occurs in their own bodies.

Comparison of O-Antigen Gene Clusters of All O-Serogroups of Escherichia coli and Proposal for Adopting a New Nomenclature for O-Typing. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Escherichia coli strains are classified based on O-antigens that are components of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in the cell envelope. O-antigens are important virulence factors, targets of both the innate and adaptive immune system, and play a role in ...

Antigenic Components of Chemical Bivalent Cholera Vaccine, Methods of their Isolation and Control

open access: yesПроблемы особо опасных инфекций, 2022
The paper presents a review of the data on the methods of isolation and control of Vibrio cholerae antigens – cholerogen-anatoxin and O-antigens of Inaba and Ogawa – components of the oral bivalent chemical cholera vaccine produced by the RusRAPI ...
