Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

We investigated a potential protective effect of acacetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, against methylglyoxal (MGO)‐induced endothelial dysfunction in human umbilical vein endothelial cells and its mechanism of action. Acacetin can could inhibit MGO‐induced intracellular calcium ion influx, enhance the expression levels of phosphorylated ...

There is a close association of obesity with hypertension through mechanisms not now understood. Hypertension occurs frequently in industrialized societies where weight gain with advancing years is a common feature and is rare in primitive societies where weight and age are negatively correlated. Hemodynamically, obesity is characterized by an expanded

T2DM is characterized by peripheral blood insulin resistance and progressive pancreatic β‐cell dysfunction. Here, we showed that AQP7, the only aquaglyceroporin protein, regulates autophagy and apoptosis in pancreatic β‐cells. We propose the existence of a positive feedback loop between MAPK signaling and AQP7 that regulates autophagy and apoptosis in ...

The obesity conundrum – obesity then infection or infection then obesity?
Introduction: Obesity is defined as an excess of body fat, and the fundamental causes are sedentary lifestyles, high-fat and energy-dense diets and the behavioural patterns of communities as a consequence of increased urbanization. Research on obese individuals has shown that they have impaired immune function, which increases their susceptibility to ...

ADDRESSING THE INFILTRATIVE PATTERN: COMPLEX DIAGNOSIS
Introduction and objective: Alterations in liver function tests are frequent, so the approach based on the predominant alteration and the patient's medical history is relevant. Carrying out a liver biopsy in cases of diagnostic doubt is imperative.
