An Image Based Feature Space and Mapping for Linking Regions and Words
We propose an image based feature space and define a mapping of both image regions and textual labels into that space. We believe the embedding of both image regions and labels into the same space in this way is novel, and makes object recognition more ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Region-based segmentation of images using syntactic visual features [PDF]
This paper presents a robust and efficient method for segmentation of images into large regions that reflect the real world objects present in the scene. We propose an extension to the well known Recursive Shortest Spanning Tree (RSST) algorithm based on

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Analysis of a biologically-inspired system for real-time object recognition
We present a biologically-inspired system for real-time, feed-forward object recognition in cluttered scenes. Our system utilizes a vocabulary of very sparse features that are shared between and within different object models.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Content-based image retrieval using a mobile device as a novel interface
This paper presents an investigation into the use of a mobile device as a novel interface to a content-based image retrieval system. The initial development has been based on the concept of using the mobile device in an art gallery for mining data about ...

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
