Object saliency using a background prior
2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016What makes an object salient? Almost all the works so far determine object saliency based on the amount of the contrast of a patch or super pixel with it's surrounding. Due to this approach, objects consisting of multiple colors, which is usually the case with a majority of natural objects, are allocated varying saliency values.

Dense Object Reconstruction with Semantic Priors
2013 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2013We present a dense reconstruction approach that overcomes the drawbacks of traditional multiview stereo by incorporating semantic information in the form of learned category-level shape priors and object detection. Given training data comprised of 3D scans and images of objects from various viewpoints, we learn a prior comprised of a mean shape and a ...

Bayes Decision Rules Based on Objective Priors
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1973The problem of statistical decision making under uncertainty is considered. A Bayes approach based upon prior probabilities which are found using an objective inference technique developed by Kashyap is proposed as the basic solution procedure. The problem is formulated in a statistical decision theory format and the general solution technique is ...
