Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Observing the Observers

open access: yes, 2020
In this chapter, I reflect on the origins of the Observing Teachers project. I make links to two facets of observer dependence: the dependence of the origins and conduct of the project on the researchers who originated and conducted it; and the methods we adopted and adapted to allow us to position the teachers as observers in the research.

Measurement configuration for integrated electric–gas systems via observability analysis considering gas flow dynamics

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration
State estimation plays an important role in the monitoring and control of integrated electric–gas systems (IEGSs), but it faces limitations due to insufficient measurement configurations and low data redundancy in these systems; additional measurement ...

Observability-Based Gaussian Sum Cubature Kalman Filter for Three-Dimensional Target Tracking Using a Single Two-Dimensional Radar

open access: yesRemote Sensing
This paper considers the problem of tracking a three-dimensional target under the condition that only a single two-dimensional radar is available. Since a two-dimensional radar can only measure the slant range and azimuth information relative to the ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Understanding Decoherence of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
State‐of‐the‐art computations unravel the intricate decoherence dynamics of the boron vacancy center in hexagonal boron nitride across magnetic fields from 0 to 3 T. Five distinct regimes emerge, dominated by nuclear spin interactions, revealing optimal coherence times of 1–20 µs in the 180–350 mT range for isotopically pure samples.
