Improvement in survival rate of patients with acral melanoma observed in the past 22 years in Sendai, Japan

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1993
While the incidence of malignant melanoma is much lower in Japanese than in Caucasians, the commonest site of melanoma in Japanese has been reported to be the acral regions of the limbs. The survival rate for acral and nodular melanoma observed at the Department of Dermatology, Tohoku University Hospital in Sendai, Japan from 1969 to 1990 was reviewed.

A systematic review of the survival and complication rates of resin‐bonded bridges after an observation period of at least 5 years

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2007
AbstractObjectives: The objectives of this systematic review were to assess the 5‐year survival of resin‐bonded bridges (RBBs) and to describe the incidence of technical and biological complications. Methods: An electronic Medline search complemented by manual searching was conducted to identify prospective and retrospective cohort studies on RBBs ...

Nonparametric estimation of survival functions for doubly censored observations when the lifetime hazard rate is proportionally related to the censoring hazard rates

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 1993
Let T, X and Y be non-negative random variables, where T is the time of occurrence of an event of interest, X and Y being the lefl and right censoring variables respectively. In this paper we propose a nonparametric estimator of the survival function, ST, when T, X and Y are supposed to be independent and their corresponding hazard rates are ...

Patterns of care and rtog studies in prostate cancer: Long-term survival, hazard rate observations, and possibilities of cure

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1994
This study was undertaken to show the long-term survival and probability of cure of prostate cancer patients treated with external beam radiation in USA national surveys and in the prospective clinical trials of the RTOG.Two national patterns of care surveys of patients treated in 1973 and 1978 are reported along with two RTOG prospective trials (7506 ...

Reproductive survival of mammalian cells after irradiation at ultra-high dose-rates: further observations and their importance for radiotherapy

The British Journal of Radiology, 1972
Abstract Somewhat conflicting data from earlier experiments by ourselves and others suggested that under certain conditions, survival curves for the reproductive capacity of mammalian cells irradiated at ultra-high dose-rates (nanosecond-to-microsecond pulses) with X rays or high-energy electrons exhibited an inflected “hockey-stick” shape.

A distinguishable observation between survival and success rate outcome of hydroxyapatite‐coated implants in 5–10 years in function

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2005
AbstractPurpose: To differentiate between the survival and success definitions of functional hydroxyapatite (HA)‐coated implant prosthesis. Methods: A total of 248 implants (62 patients), 5–10 years in function, were evaluated. The implant distribution length was 8 mm (6.5%), 10 mm (29.4%), 13 mm (30.2%) and 15 mm (33.9%). The diameter was 3.25 mm (60.

TNF‐α Antagonist Survival Rate in a Cohort of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Observed under Conditions of Standard Clinical Practice

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2009
A cohort of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in the Lombardy Rheumatology Network (LOHREN) registry and receiving anti‐TNF therapy was evaluated after 6, 12, 24, and 36 months. Of the 1114 patients in the registry 1064 met the clinical criteria for inclusion with 519 receiving infliximab, 303 adalimumab, and 242 etanercept.

Correlation Between Body Temperature and Survival Rate in Patients With Hospital-Acquired Bacteremia

Biological Research For Nursing, 2014
Background: Fever is a complex and major sign of a patient’s acute response to infection. However, analysis of the risks and benefits associated with the change in body temperature of an infected host remains controversial.

ORBIT (Outcome and Retention Rate of Biologic Treatments for Psoriasis): A retrospective observational study on biologic drug survival in daily practice

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2016
Biologic drug survival in psoriasis reflects long-term performance in real-life settings. Previous studies have yielded inconsistent results. We sought to analyze long-term biologic survival and its associated variables in a large, real-life cohort of patients with moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis. This was an observational retrospective study.

Observations on the lyophilization ofBrucella abortus, strain 19

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1956
For the production of lyophilizedBrucella abortus Str. 19 vaccine a suspending medium containing 2% tryptose, 0.5% neutralised ascorbic acid and 0.75% thiourea was developed. In 100 separate batches of vaccine dried in this medium the survival rate was determined after primary drying and after secondary drying and vacuum-sealing of the ampoules.
