The metabolism of neoplastic tissues: Further observations on the relative rates of acetate and pyruvate utilization by surviving tissue slices of mouse tumors

Zeitschrift fr Krebsforschung, 1957
The relative rates of the incorporation of tracer from equimolar amounts of pyruvate-2-C14 and acetate-1-C14 into respiratory carbon dioxide, protein-bound amino acids, cholesterol and long-chain fatty acids were studied using surviving tissue slices of mouse tumors.

Long-Term Retrospective Observational Cohort Study on the Survival Rate of Stepped-Screw Titanium Implants Followed up to 20 Years

The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, 2019
The aim of this long-term retrospective study was twofold: (1) to evaluate the survival and success rates of stepped screw titanium implants with a sandblasted and acid-etched surface, and (2) to assess the influence of hypothetical predictors of implant failure on the survival rate. From 75 possible candidates, 67 patients contributing 346 Frialit-2 ...

Survival and Complication Rates of Polymer-Infiltrated Ceramic-Network Single Tooth Restorations with an Observation Period of up to Three Years

European Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry
This study evaluated the clinical performance of a polymer-infiltrated ceramic-network (PICN) material for up to 3 years. Patients (N=286) received 581 indirect restorations as crowns (417), overlays (131), and inlays/veneers (33) fabricated using the PICN (VITA Enamic) by CAD/CAM procedures using intraoral scanning (Cerec Omnicam) and milling systems (

Survival rates in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients transported without prehospital return of spontaneous circulation: An observational cohort study

Resuscitation, 2014
Some Emergency Medical Services currently use just one component of the Universal Termination of Resuscitation (TOR) Guideline, the absence of prehospital return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), as the single criteria to terminate resuscitation, which may deny transport to potential survivors. This study aimed to report the survival to hospital ...

Prediction of survival time at sea based on observed body cooling rates.

Aviation, space, and environmental medicine, 1997
The prediction of survival time (ST) of individuals stranded at sea is particularly difficult since reliable controlled data are unavailable. An individual's rate of body cooling is governed by the difference between heat loss and heat production. It has been suggested that the rate of deep body cooling can be extrapolated to estimate ST.
