Fault-tolerant observer design with a tolerance measure for systems with sensor failure [PDF]
A fault-tolerant switching observer design methodology is proposed. The aim is to maintain a desired level of closed-loop performance under a range of sensor fault scenarios while the fault-free nominal performance is optimized.

SMART Designs in Observational Studies [PDF]
To the Editor— We appreciate Jackson and Gagne’s1 enthusiasm for our recent study demonstrating that chronic opioid analgesic use (OAU) is significantly associated with risk of depression.2 We agree that utilizing medical record databases to inform clinical practice is possible.

ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...

ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Robust observer design under measurement noise [PDF]
We prove new results on robust observer design for systems with noisy measurement and bounded trajectories. A state observer is designed by dominating the incrementally homogeneous nonlinearities of the observation error system with its linear ...

Treatment Decision‐Making Roles and Preferences Among Adolescents and Young Adults With Cancer
ABSTRACT Background Decision‐making (DM) dynamics between adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer, parents, and oncologists remain underexplored in diverse populations. We examined cancer treatment DM preferences among an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse group of AYAs and their parents.

ABSTRACT Background Parents of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often experience significant caregiver burden and disruption to their well‐being. While parent quality of life (QoL) during treatment is well characterized, little is known about outcomes during early survivorship.

A High-Gain Observer for Embedded Polynomial Dynamical Systems
This article deals with the construction of high-gain observers for autonomous polynomial dynamical systems. In contrast to the usual approach, the system’s state is embedded into a higher dimensional Euclidean space. The observer state will be contained

An active fault tolerant control approach to an offshore wind turbine model [PDF]
The paper proposes an observer based active fault tolerant control (AFTC) approach to a non-linear large rotor wind turbine benchmark model. A sensor fault hiding and actuator fault compensation strategy is adopted in the design.
