Comments on the observability of coronal variations
Solar Physics, 1988The observable variability of spectral lines in the soft X-ray and XUV region is discussed. Rapid variability of coronal emission, both in flaring and non-flaring structures, has been reported and is particularly prominent when high spatial resolution is available.

Intra‐observer and inter‐observer variation of Hertel exophthalmometry
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 2009Abstract Purpose: This study investigated the intra‐observer and inter‐observer variation of Hertel exophthalmometry. Methods: Seventy normal Chinese adults had bilateral exophthalmometry performed by two examiners.

Observer variation in assessing renal scarring
The British Journal of Radiology, 1980To examine the extent of variation between experienced observers in recognizing renal scarring, 60 intravenous urograms from schoolgirls with bacteriuria were presented separately to three radiologists with a major interest in the radiology of the urinary tract.

Observer variation and reproducibility of endoscopic ultrasonography
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 1995To investigate interobserver variation and reproducibility of endosonographic findings, both experienced and inexperienced endosonographers evaluated depth of tumor invasion (T stage) and presence of lymph node metastasis (N stage) in 50 patients with nonobstructing esophageal carcinoma.

OBSERVER VARIATION IN THE CLINICAL ASSESSMENT OF STROKE
Age and Ageing, 1976Clinical assessments have to be used in epidemiological studies in the absence of more objective means of establishing diagnosis or recording events in the natural history of disease. This requires the standardization of definition, technique and interpretation as a means of reducing observer variability in clinical examination.

Beat to beat and observer variation of the electrocardiogram
American Heart Journal, 1968Abstract The BBV of selected ECG measurements was studied in an all male series consisting of 29 subjects with and 29 without heart disease. Nine consecutive beats of each of the 58 3-lead orthogonal records, selected to show minimal base-line disturbance, were converted by computer into enlarged digital plots.

Observations of Irradiance Variations
Space Science Reviews, 2000Since November 1978 a complete set of total solar irradiance (TSI) measurements from space is available, yielding a time series of 21 years. From measurements made by different space radiometers (HF on NIMBUS-7, ACRIM I on SMM, ACRIM II on UARS and VIRGO on SOHO) a composite record of TSI can be compiled.

Observations of Time Variation in the Sun's Rotation
Science, 1993Observations of solar p-mode frequency splittings obtained at Big Bear Solar Observatory in 1986 and during 1988-90 reveal small (∼1 percent) changes in the sun's subsurface angular velocity with solar cycle. An asymptotic inversion of the splitting data yields the latitude dependence of the rotation rate and shows that the largest changes in the ...

Observer variation in the interpretation of bone scintigraphy
Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, 1996To assess the reliability of bone scintigraphy, a random sample of 100 bone scans was reviewed twice by each of two physicians. Observer variation in the description and interpretation of bone scintigrams varied by diagnosis. Good to excellent k values were obtained for inter- and intraobserver variation in relation to metastasis or normal scans.

Observer variation in equine abdominal auscultation
Equine Veterinary Journal, 1990Summary The reliability of abdominal auscultation was investigated via an observer variation study. Clinicians listened to a variety of minute‐long equine gut sound recordings. They evaluated the amount of gut sounds as ‘absent’, ‘decreased’, ‘normal’, or ‘increased’.
