Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

q-Multinomial and negative q-multinomial distributions

open access: yes, 2021
The notion of a Bernoulli trial is extended, by introducing recursively different kinds (ranks, levels) of success and failure, to a Bernoulli trial with chain-composite success (or failure).

MagmaFlow: A desktop platform for artificial intelligence‐driven expression analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MagmaFlow is a free, no‐code platform for gene expression analysis. It generates interactive volcano plots, links genes to literature, pathways, and diseases, prioritizes candidates using millions of publications, identifies affected biological processes, builds network diagrams, and exports publication‐ready figures and reports for macOS and Windows ...

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Development of Patient-Specific CT-FE Modelling of Bone Through Validation Using Porcine Femora [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A&E statistics in the UK demonstrate that as high as 60% of bone fractures occur as a result of trips and falls. Subsequently, many studies have been undertaken to simulate the occurrence of hip fractures. Little simulation has been considered outside of

Insights on the statistical physics modeling of the adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions on bentonite-chitosan composite in single and binary systems

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, a bentonite-chitosan composite was tested for the single and binary adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions at constant pH (6) and different temperatures (30, 40, and 50 degrees C).

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...

Correlated biostratigraphy and palaeoecology of microplankton from the Bearpaw Formation (Campanian-Maastrichtian) of Alberta, Canada [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Marine palynomorph assemblages from the Campanian-Maastrichtian Bearpaw Formation, consisting of 34 genera and 69 species of dinoflagellate cysts and 8 forms of acritarchs, were recovered from a composite section in the Cypress Hills and the Research ...

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.
