Multimodal Assessment of Kidney Quality During 24‐h of Normothermic Machine Perfusion

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) has emerged as a promising tool for assessing kidney quality prior to transplantation; however, reliable biomarkers remain to be established. In this study, thirteen porcine kidneys were perfused for 24 h using an autologous leukocyte‐filtered whole blood‐based perfusate applying urine recirculation.

Too Little, Too Weak? Paid Parental Leaves in Philippine Collective Bargaining Agreements

open access: yesBritish Journal of Industrial Relations, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT When statutory work–family entitlements are deemed insufficient, workers often rely on collective bargaining to secure better terms. However, the extent to which unions can deliver higher than statutory benefits remains underexplored, especially in developing countries with decentralized bargaining systems and low union salience. Bridging this

D‐amino acid oxidase as a chemogenetic tool for spatiotemporally controlled hydrogen peroxide production: The oxygen connection

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose D‐amino acid oxidase (DAO) has been developed as a chemogenetic tool, to precisely manipulate redox levels in tissues and cells by generating H2O2 in the presence of D‐amino acids. The enzyme's significant oxygen consumption during H2O2 production may influence cellular oxygen levels.

SOD2‐Superoxide Metabolic Axis Regulates Mitophagy and Modulates TKIs Sensitivity in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Our findings provide compelling evidence that the SOD2‐superoxide metabolic axis functions as a mitochondrial redox checkpoint that governs mitophagy and ultimately shapes TKI sensitivity. ABSTRACT Superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) has been implicated in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), yet its mechanistic contribution in regulating tumor ...
