Ocular prevalence versus ocular dominance

open access: yesVision Research, 2003
Ocular dominance manifests itself in tests that contain stereo-objects with a disparity beyond Panum's area, e.g. in pointing a finger. These tests force subjects to decide in favour of one or the other eye. In contrast, ocular prevalence is determined using stereo-targets imaged within Panum's areas.

Evaluation of ocular symptoms and tropism of SARS‐CoV‐2 in patients confirmed with COVID‐19

open access: yesActa ophthalmologica, 2020
The SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA has been detected in tears and conjunctival samples from infected individuals. Conjunctivitis is also reported in a small number of cases.

The Immunological Basis of Dry Eye Disease and Current Topical Treatment Options. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Homeostasis of the lacrimal functional unit is needed to ensure a well-regulated ocular immune response comprising innate and adaptive phases. When the ocular immune system is excessively stimulated and/or immunoregulatory mechanisms are disrupted, the ...

Black Sun: Ocular Invisibility of Relativistic Luminous Astrophysical Bodies [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology, 2016, 2, 562-570, 2015
The relativistic Doppler shifting of visible electromagnetic radiation to beyond the human ocular range reduces the incident radiance of the source. Consequently, luminous astrophysical bodies (LABs) can be rendered invisible with sufficient relativistic motion. This paper determines the proper distance as a function of relativistic velocity at which a

Investigating Fairness of Ocular Biometrics Among Young, Middle-Aged, and Older Adults [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
A number of studies suggest bias of the face biometrics, i.e., face recognition and soft-biometric estimation methods, across gender, race, and age groups. There is a recent urge to investigate the bias of different biometric modalities toward the deployment of fair and trustworthy biometric solutions. Ocular biometrics has obtained increased attention

Non-contact, in-vivo, functional, and structural ophthalmic imaging using multimodal photoacoustic remote sensing (PARS) microscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Early diagnosis of ocular diseases improves the understanding of pathophysiology and helps with accurate monitoring and effective treatment. Advanced multimodal ocular imaging platforms play a crucial role in the visualization of the ocular components and provide clinicians with a valuable tool for evaluating different eye diseases. Here, for the first
