Reduced Pleasant Touch Appraisal in the Presence of a Disgusting Odor
Objectives Odors are powerful emotional stimuli influencing mood, attention and behavior. Here we examined if odors change the perception of pleasant touch. In line with the warning function of the olfactory system, we proposed that especially unpleasant

PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Cross-Cultural Color-Odor Associations
Colors and odors are associated; for instance, people typically match the smell of strawberries to the color pink or red. These associations are forms of crossmodal correspondences.

Body odor quality predicts behavioral attractiveness in humans [PDF]
Growing effort is being made to understand how different attractive physical traits co-vary within individuals, partly because this might indicate an underlying index of genetic quality.

The seed pod valves of Australian Banksia attenuata plants are not simply bi‐layers which bend when dry. These experiments and models reveal complex mechanics, which allow seed release only after several steps of seed pod opening. Stiffness gradients prevent delamination of the valves during loading, and a shape‐memory function protects the seeds ...

Odor Perceptual Shift Keying (OPSK) for Odor-Based Molecular Communication [PDF]
Molecular communication (MC) has promising potential and a wide range of applications. However, odor-based communication which is common in nature, has not been sufficiently examined within the context of MC, yet. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for implementing odor-based MC systems.

Carbon nanomembranes with ultra‐thin Al2O3 functionalization are less than 15 nm thin and exhibit outstanding permeation performance with a water vapor/nitrogen selectivity higher than 1 × 104, twice that of pristine CNMs, and an exceptionally high water vapor permeation rate for potential applications in air dehumidification.
