Odor Perception and Beliefs about Risk [PDF]
Although the perceptual response to environmental odors can be quite variable, such variation has often been attributed to differences in individual sensitivity. An information-processing analysis of odor perception, however, treats both the reception and the subsequent evaluation of odor information as determinants of the perceptual response.

We report photostable, photoluminescent deep eutectic solvents (DESs) powered by in situ‐formed zero‐dimensional (0D) halometallates. Stabilized by microenvironment‐controlling hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and donor (HBD) networks, these DESs exhibit vibrant, metal ion‐tunable emission (PLQY = 60.2%).

From Defense Executor to Engineering Target: Harnessing Lignin for Crop Resistance
Lignin serves as both a physical and chemical executor of broad‐spectrum plant immunity. This review systematically summarizes classical and recent advances in lignin‐mediated immunity, outlines the multifaceted regulatory modules controlling lignification under biotic stress, discusses key physiological and biochemical mechanisms behind lignin‐based ...

A Critique of Olfactory Objects
Does the sense of smell involve the perception of odor objects? General discussion of perceptual objecthood centers on three criteria: stimulus representation, perceptual constancy, and figure-ground segregation.

Invertebrates are the classic neuroscience models and should make a comeback. Invertebrate organisms can be a more ethical and cost‐effective way to move bioelectronics research forward more rapidly. ABSTRACT The accelerating development of bioelectronic neural interfaces has brought increased attention to ethical considerations surrounding in vivo ...

Oscillatory Sequences of Firing in the Locust Olfactory System: Mechanisms and Functional Significance [PDF]
What neural codes does the brain use to represent and process sensory information? Stimulus-evoked oscillatory synchronization of neuronal activity has been observed in many systems, yet the possible functions of such rhythmic synchronization in neural ...

ABSTRACT Growing demand for healthier beverages is driving innovation in the wine sector, with dealcoholized wine emerging as a promising alternative. However, little is known about the contextual conditions under which consumers would choose dealcoholized wine, particularly in countries with strong wine traditions. To fill this gap, this work examines

As people are the ultimate arbiters of air quality in built environments, perceived air quality (PAQ) is receiving increasing attention. Odor is often designated as the main target of PAQ regulation, but due to the complex mechanism of cross-modal human ...
