The effects of hormone changes over the menstrual cycle on elite athlete performance: meta-analysis and suggested standardised protocol

open access: yesReproduction and Fertility
Fluctuations in endogenous sex hormones across the menstrual cycle (MC) have been hypothesised to have physiological changes that could influence athletic performance.

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal circAP2B1 Induces M2 Macrophage Polarization by Enhancing Mitochondrial Homeostasis to Promote Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ESCC‐derived exosomal circAP2B1 promotes tumor progression by reprogramming mitochondrial metabolism via the ESRRA/KPNA1/MFN2 axis to induce M2 polarization of macrophages. ABSTRACT Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remodels the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment via exosome‐mediated intercellular communication.

Associations Between Female Sex Hormones and Skeletal Muscle Ageing: The Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle
Background To date, most research investigating the influence of circulating sex hormones on ageing female skeletal muscle has been cross‐sectional and focused only on dichotomised young and old, or pre‐ versus post‐menopausal groups.

Nanoparticle‐Mediated TIPE1 mRNA Delivery Enhances Paclitaxel Sensitivity in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Modulating RAB7A Ubiquitination‐Associated Stability and Autophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TIPE1m NPs nanoparticles restore TIPE1 expression, promote RAB7A ubiquitination and degradation, suppress autophagic flux, and resensitize paclitaxel‐resistant triple‐negative breast cancer to therapy. ABSTRACT Acquired paclitaxel (PTX) resistance remains a major obstacle in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment.

Oestrogen, headache and oral contraceptives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The possible relationship between headache and the oral contraceptive is considered. In the present study, no association has been demonstrat~d between oestrogen withdrawal (as produced by oophorectomy, or cessation of exogenous oestrogen replacement ...

Oestrogen and colorectal cancer:mechanisms and controversies

open access: yes, 2013
AIM: The role of oestrogen metabolism and action in colorectal cancer (CRC) is controversial. An extensive review of the current literature, encompassing epidemiological evidence, systemic and peripheral oestrogen concentrations, 17β-hydroxysteroid ...

Transcription Factor HOXC11 Drives Colorectal Cancer Progression and Metastasis via CAMK2A‐Dependent CXCL5 Upregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HOXC11 drives colorectal cancer progression by transcriptionally activating CAMK2A, which triggers NF‐κB–dependent CXCL5 upregulation. CXCL5–CXCR2 signaling further reinforces HOXC11 expression through the ERK1/2–SP1 axis, forming a prometastatic positive feedback loop that is effectively disrupted by combined CAMK2A and CXCR2 inhibition.

SemanticST: A Scalable Multi‐Contextual Graph Learning Framework for Uncovering Spatial Niches and Robust Multi‐Sample Integration in Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Technical limitations often let dominant signals overshadow rare cell types and fine‐grained heterogeneity in spatial transcriptomics. SemanticST, a graph neural network using multi‐semantic graph fusion and a novel min‐cut loss, recovers these subtle patterns.

Effects of resistance exercise, collagen ingestion and circulating oestrogen concentration on collagen synthesis in a female athlete: A case report

open access: yesExperimental Physiology
We investigated the effects of resistance exercise (RE), hydrolysed collagen (HC) ingestion and circulating oestrogen concentration on collagen synthesis in a naturally menstruating female CrossFit athlete. In a double‐blind, randomised cross‐over design,

The role of gonadal hormones in regulating opioid antinociception

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine
Opioids are the most prescribed drugs for the alleviation of pain. Both clinical and preclinical studies have reported strong evidence for sex-related divergence regarding opioid analgesia.
