Inhibition of IGFBP4 in Granulosa Cells Improves Reproductive Performance and Maintains Fertility With Age via YAP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 is upregulated in granulosa cells of aged ovaries across monkeys, mice, and humans. It inhibits YAP signaling, thereby suppressing cell proliferation and contributing to follicular dysfunction. Deletion of Igfbp4 in granulosa cells enhances ovulatory output, improves hormone profiles, and reproductive performance in aged female mice, suggesting ...

Thymosin Alpha‐1 Provides Direct Neuroprotection by Engaging the Orexin Receptor HCRTR1 to Suppress Neuronal Necroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we unveil a thymus‐brain endocrine axis wherein Tα1 engages HCRTR1 to inhibit RIPK3‐mediated necroptosis. This study nominates the Tal‐HCRTR1‐RIPK3 axis as a potent and clinically translatable therapeutic target for stroke and neurodegeneration.

Insights from the Structure of Estrogen Receptor into the Evolution of Estrogens: Implications for Endocrine Disruption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the last decade, there has been important progress in understanding the origins and evolution of receptors for adrenal steroids (aldosterone, cortisol) and sex steroids (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone) due to the sequencing of genomes from ...

Oestrogen modulators as augmentation to antipsychotics for the treatment of post- and perimenopausal psychosis: a systematic review

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Psychopharmacology
Background: It is theorised that oestrogen provides neuroprotection against psychosis. Oestrogen levels drop during post- and perimenopausal periods, creating a window for the onset of psychotic symptoms.

Integrative Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals a Mitochondrial–Immune Axis Associated With Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in High‐Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrative multi‐omics analysis delineates a mitochondrial–immune axis governing neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Immune‐active tumors exhibit enhanced B‐cell infiltration and favorable sensitivity, whereas metabolically rewired tumors display oxidative phosphorylation dependency and resistance.

Spatially Organized Human Ovarian Spheroids Instruct Endometrial Morphogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A spatially organized human follicle‐like spheroid (SPHEGaT) composed of granulosa cells (GCs) and stromal‐derived theca‐like cells (TLCs) establishes sustained steroidogenesis in vitro. When co‐cultured with human endometrial organoids (EMOs), estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) exchange induces secretory/progesterone‐responsive differentiation ...

Nanoplastics increase in vitro oestrogenic activity of neurotherapeutic drugs

open access: yesArhiv za Higijenu Rada i Toksikologiju
Environmental pollution with plastic nanoparticles (PNPs) has rendered hazard assessment of unintentional human exposure to neurotherapeutic drugs through contaminated water and food ever more complicated.

ZBTB11 Promotes Breast Cancer Progression by Activating FBXO28‐Mediated MST1 Degradation and Suppressing Hippo Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZBTB11 is identified as an oncogenic transcription factor that activates FBXO28 in breast cancer. FBXO28 promotes K48‐linked ubiquitination and degradation of MST1, suppressing Hippo signaling and enhancing epithelial–mesenchymal transition and metastasis. This transcription‐to‐ubiquitination cascade defines a prognostic biomarker axis and highlights a

Cadherin-5: a biomarker for metastatic breast cancer with optimum efficacy in oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancers with vascular invasion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: A glycoproteomic study has previously shown cadherin-5 (CDH5) to be a serological marker of metastatic breast cancer when both protein levels and glycosylation status were assessed. In this study we aimed to further validate the utility of
