This chapter highlights Danish offshore wind development from the world’s first offshore wind farm built in 1991 to the implementation of advanced transmission solutions at sea, called ‘energy islands’ and the Esbjerg Declaration from 2022 setting the joint target of delivering at least 65 GW offshore wind power by 2030.
