A Unified Model of Oil/Water Two-Phase Flow in the Horizontal Wellbore

SPE Journal, 2016
Summary In this article, a more-general flow-pattern classification of oil/water two-phase flow in the horizontal wellbore is proposed first according to the theoretical analysis and previous research achievements, on the basis of which a simplification is then performed through reasonable incorporation, and the ultimate flow patterns ...

Characterization of oil/water two-phase flow based on complexity theory

Proceedings of 2004 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics (IEEE Cat. No.04EX826), 2005
The flow patterns of oil/water two-phase flow in vertical upward pipes have been characterized by the analysis of LZ complexity and fluctuation complexity measures using the conductance time series fluctuating signals. It is shown that both complexity measures have little changes with oil-in-water flow pattern variations for flow conditions of 61%/spl ...

Complex network analysis in inclined oil–water two-phase flow

Chinese Physics B, 2009
Complex networks have established themselves in recent years as being particularly suitable and flexible for representing and modelling many complex natural and artificial systems. Oil–water two-phase flow is one of the most complex systems. In this paper, we use complex networks to study the inclined oil–water two-phase flow.

Pressure Drop for Oil-Water Two-phase Flow in Horizontal Pipe

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Pressure drops were measured during the co‐current flow of a mechanical oil and tap water in 40 mm inner diameter horizontal test section made from organic glass. Measurements is conducted were made for the oil superficial velocity ranges from 0.04 to 1.2 m/s and the water superficial velocity from 0.04 to 2.2 m/s.

Slip property of oil-water two phase flow in horizontal pipe

2010 The 2nd International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering (ICCAE), 2010
Normall, it is very difficult to measurement oil volume fraction under low oil volume fraction in multi phase flow measurement, in this study, Slip property of oil-water two phase flow in horizontal pipe under low oil volume fraction was investigated though a Coriolis Mass Flowmeter, the difference of water cut and water hold up was analyzed with ...

Flow Regimes and Transition Characters of the High Viscosity Oil-water Two Phase Flow

International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition in China, 2010
Abstract With the fast development of the offshore oilfield in china, field engineers are now facing with a new challenge, which is the flow assurance of crude oil-water two phases flow in the submarine pipeline. Since the existence of natural surfactants in the crude oil, as resin, asphaltene and etc, crude oil and water two phases tend

A study of horizontal and down hill two-phase oil-water flow

1985
Concurrent oil and water flow in inclined pipes is a common occurrence in deviated wells and production gathering systems. To predict properties associated with non-emulsified oil and water flow such as pressure gradient, two-phase flow correlations developed for gas-liquid flow or average flow properties of the oil and water must be used.

Oil–water two‐phase flow in microchannels: Flow patterns and pressure drop measurements

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2008
AbstractThis paper investigates oil–water two‐phase flows in microchannels of 793 and 667 µm hydraulic diameters made of quartz and glass, respectively. By injecting one fluid at a constant flow rate and the second at variable flow rate, different flow patterns were identified and mapped and the corresponding two‐phase pressure drops were measured ...

Flow Patterns and Water Wetting in Oil-Water Two Phase Flow – a Flow Loop Study

CORROSION 2014, 2014
Abstract Carbon steel pipelines used for transporting oils generally have some water flowing concurrently with the oil phase. The presence of water can lead to internal corrosion problems when free water contacts/wets the pipe wall surface.
