Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Structuring Edible Oils With Fumed Silica Particles
Organogels are often made from solutions of proteins, polymers or fatty acids in oil. The macromolecular species crystallize, or assemble, into mesh structures that inhibit oil flow.

Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

The role of plant oils/lipids as innovative fat replacers in various food products: A review
Due to growing demands for palatable and nutritious food products, liquid plant oils are structured into oleogels and emulsion gels as fat replacers to mimic the physical state of saturated fats.

OIL AND THE MACROECONOMY: A QUANTITATIVE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS [PDF]
We model an open economy where macroeconomic variables fluctuate in response to oil supply shocks, as well as aggregate demand and supply shocks generated domestically and abroad. We use several robust predictions of the model to identify five fundamental shocks underlying the fluctuations of the (real) oil price, the US activity and the global ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Building the Learning Analytics Curriculum: Should we Teach (a Code of) Ethics? [PDF]
This brief chapter explores the feasibility of teaching (a code of) ethics against a background which examines our views around data scientists, data analysis, data and, in particular, student data. It touches upon different approaches to ethics and asks

Quantitative characterization of pore structure of several biochars with 3D imaging
Pore space characteristics of biochars may vary depending on the used raw material and processing technology. Pore structure has significant effects on the water retention properties of biochar amended soils.
