Ranking Oil Viscosity in Heavy-Oil Reservoirs

SPE International Thermal Operations and Heavy Oil Symposium, 2005
Abstract The Milne Point field in Alaska produces from the Kuparuk, Schrader, and Ugnu formations. The Kuparuk formation contains light oil, while the Schrader and Ugnu contain heavy oil. The ranges of viscosities are 200 to 10,000 cp in the Ugnu, 20 – 200 cp in the Schrader, and about 3 cp in the Kuparuk.

Low Viscosity Oils

Scientific Lubrication, 1952
The belief that low viscosity oils for motor vehicles will save considerable fuel consumption has now been proved to the satisfaction of almost everyone, and it is agreed that providing the engine is in good condition, very little extra wear will occur.

Textural perception of liquid emulsions: Role of oil content, oil viscosity and emulsion viscosity

Food Hydrocolloids, 2011
This work describes a study on the in-mouth textural perception of thickened liquid oil-in-water emulsions. The variables studied are oil content, oil viscosity, and the concentration of polysaccharide thickener. Gum arabic was chosen as the thickener because of the nearly Newtonian behavior of its solutions and special care was taken to suppress aroma

Viscosity of crude oil blends

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1987

Density and viscosity of vegetable oils

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1999
AbstractA generalized method was developed to estimate the liquid density of vegetable oils and fatty acids. The correlation for vegetable oils was based on fatty acid critical properties and composition of the oil. The correlations predicted the density of vegetable oils and fatty acids with an average absolute deviation of 0.21 and 0.77 ...

Dispersion of High Viscosity Oils

International Oil Spill Conference Proceedings, 2014
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effectiveness of three dispersants in simulated seawater on five different fuel oils (both intermediate fuel oils (IFOs) and heavy fuel oils (HFOs)) with viscosities ranging from 1,079 to 6,615 cSt and densities ranging from 0.995 to 0.998 g/cc.

Viscosity Reduction of Heavy Oil

2018
The exploitation and transportation of heavy oil has been a challenging task due to its high viscosity and poor fluidity. To address these issues, it is necessary to study the properties and viscosity reduction methods of heavy oil. In this chapter, the composition and source of viscosity of heavy oil are introduced.
