Effects of chemical treatments on morphological, physical and chemical properties of okra bast fibers

Journal of Innovative Engineering and Natural Science
In this study, bast fibers have been obtained from okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) plant stems via biological degumming process. The obtained fibers were subjected to some textile pretreatment processes such as scouring, alkalizing, oxygen bleaching and chlorine bleaching which are also utilized in cellulose nanoparticle production.

Green‐Orange Bi‐Color Switchable Mechanoluminescent Fiber of Okra‐Like Structure for Visual Signaling

Advanced Materials
Abstract Mechanoluminescence, a phenomenon to emits light under stress stimulation without requiring an electric field or power consumption, is potentially applicable in smart wearable stress‐to‐light sensitive devices. These current wearable light‐emitting device lacks the ability to visually represent stress changes in an intuitive ...

Fiber Extraction from Okra Plant Agricultural Wastes, Their Characterizations and Surface Modifications by Environmental Methods

2018
Scientists have been searching for biodegradable natural materials that can be used in place of synthetic materials that have not been biodegradable for a long time. Especially in automotive, space, furniture, construction, medical and packaging industries, synthetic composite materials are used abundantly.

Heritability and Correlations of Agronomic and Fiber Traits in an Okra‐Leaf Upland Cotton Population

Crop Science, 2006
In cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.), the cost and time to develop and evaluate appropriate genetic populations have limited the number of intensive and complete heritability studies. Herein, three agronomic and 17 fiber quality traits were assessed for heritability and correlation analyses on progeny rows in an okra‐leaf cotton population of 208 families.
