Effect of organic and bio-fertilizers on okra plant growth

open access: yesJournal of Global Innovations in Agricultural Sciences, 2023
This experiment aimed to determine the impact of organic and biological fertilizers on the development of the okra plant. The research was carried out in a private field in the Al- Madinah district north of Basra during the 2022 agricultural season.

Squash silverleaf disorder and whitefly (Bemisia tabaci MEAM1) infestation: Implications for plant disease management in a changing climate

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 2, September 2026.
Squash Silverleaf Disorder (SLD) is growing in its economic impact due to the invasive behaviour of the silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci MEAM1). In this review we summarize what is currently known about the whitefly‐squash interaction, how both the disease and the whitefly are being affected by climate change, and discuss current and novel ...

The Potency of Four Plant Extracts in Stimulating the Physiological and Yield Parameters of Okra (Abelmoschus Esculentus) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development Studies
This study evaluated the impact of plant extracts from Chromolaena odorata, Aspilia africana, Datura stramonium, and Gongronema latifolium on the physiological and yield parameters of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus). The study aimed to assess the potential

Effects of ketogenic and low‐carbohydrate diet on glucose and weight control in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients along with metabolome change

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
Both the low‐carbohydrate diet (LCD) and the ketogenic diet (KD) positively affect body weight and glucose metabolism in type 2 diabetes. Metabolomic signatures sensitively reflect each diet and correlate with clinical improvements – distinct metabolite associations with glycated haemoglobin and weight were identified for LCD versus KD.

Linking Palm Oil Quality Evolution During Frying to the Shelf‐Life of Low‐Temperature Vacuum‐Fried Whole Okra Crisps

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
This work establishes a direct link between the degradation of palm oil over repeated frying cycles and the subsequent shelf‐life of vacuum‐fried okra crisps. Controlling the number of frying cycles is identified as a critical point for ensuring long‐term product stability and quality. ABSTRACT The quality of frying oil is a critical determinant of the

Assessment of Nutritional and Nonnutritional Correlates of Anemia in Pregnancy: A Hospital‐Based Cross‐Sectional Study for Public Health Interventions in the Bono East Region of Ghana

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Anemia in pregnancy (AiP) remains a public health concern in Ghana. The Bono East Region is known for a variety of maternal morbidities, yet the association between inadequate intake of iron‐rich foods and AiP remains underexplored.

Behaviour of the main okra (Abelmoschus spp.) cultivars grown in Côte d’Ivoire to root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White, 1919)) under greenhouse conditions

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica
Root-knot nematodes are the main factor limiting okra production in Côte d’Ivoire. Using resistant cultivars appears to be one of the best strategies for managing root-knot nematodes.
