Mass spectrometry of oleanolic acid glycosides

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1973
An analysis of the mass spectra of the oleanolic acid glycosides makes it possible to determine the nature of the carbohydrate moieties and the site of their attachment to the genin, and also to reliably identify the nature of the genin.

Oleanolic Acid Prevents Glucocorticoid‐induced Hypertension in Rats

Phytotherapy Research, 2011
The present study was designed to evaluate the antihypertensive activity of oleanolic acid isolated from Viscum articulatum, Burm. (Loranthaceae) in glucocorticoid (dexamethasone)‐induced hypertension in rats and to propose a probable mechanism of action for this effect. Male Wistar rats (300–350 g) received dexamethasone (20 μg/kg/day s.c.) or saline (

Synthesis and cytotoxicity of oleanolic acid trisaccharide saponins

Carbohydrate Research, 2017
An array of oleanolic acid-type saponins based on β-hederin has been synthesized in a linear or one-pot manner. The cell viability assays indicate that synthetic saponins show antiproliferation activities in three cancer cell lines with IC50 values of 2.4-15.1 μM and hederacolchiside A1 being the most potent.

Oleanolic acid protects ethanol-induced memory impairments

Behavioural Brain Research
A moderate amount of ethanol (EtOH) intake can lower the incidence of various cardiovascular disease but can result in neuropsychiatric issues during adolescence. EtOH acts on GABAA receptor, which can slow down neurotransmission and lead to changes in synaptic functions.

Synthesis of glycosides of oleanolic acid

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1966
1. The synthesis of glycosides of oleanolic acid has been carried out. 2. On the basis of the synthesis of the glucoside of oleanolic acid, the possibility of using sugar orthoesters for the selective glycosylation of the alcoholic hydroxy group of a hydroxy acid containing an unprotected carboxyl has been shown.

Oleanolic acid alleviated pressure overload-induced cardiac remodeling

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2015
Previous study has demonstrated that oleanolic acid (OA) possessing the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties blunted high-glucose-induced diabetic cardiomyopathy and ameliorated experimental autoimmune myocarditis in mice. However, little is known about its effects on pressure overload-induced cardiac remodeling.

Therapeutic potential of oleanolic acid in liver diseases

Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology
Liver-associated diseases affect millions of individuals worldwide. In developed countries, the incidence of viral hepatitis is reducing due to advancements in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. However, with improvements in living standards, the prevalence of metabolic liver diseases, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcohol ...

Enhancing oleanolic acid production in engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Bioresource Technology, 2018
Oleanolic acid is a plant-derived pentacyclic triterpenoid compound with various biological activities. Recently, biosynthesis of oleanolic acid in microbes has been demonstrated as a promising and green way, but the production is too low for industrialization.

Oleanolic acid and hederagenin glycosides from Weigela stelzneri

Phytochemistry, 2016
Four previously undescribed and one known oleanolic acid glycosides were isolated from the roots of Weigela stelzneri, and one previously undescribed and three known hederagenin glycosides were isolated from the leaves. Their structures were elucidated mainly by 2D NMR spectroscopic analysis and mass spectrometry as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-[β-D ...

Synthesis and cytotoxicity evaluation of oleanolic acid derivatives

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2013
Twelve derivatives of oleanolic acid (1) have been synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activities against the growth of prostate PC3, breast MCF-7, lung A549, and gastric BGC-823 cancer cells by MTT assays. Within these series of derivatives, compound 17 exhibited the most potent cytotoxicity against PC3 cell line (IC50=0.39 μM) and compound
