Remarkable Response to Immune Checkpoint Inhibition After Early Aggressive Recurrence Following Robot‐Assisted Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Squamous cell carcinoma is a rare bladder cancer subtype with poor prognosis in advanced stages. Currently, there is no established systemic therapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors, for this subtype. Case Presentation A 49‐year‐old man with pure bladder squamous cell carcinoma arising from a diverticulum with pelvic lymph ...

Radioiodine‐Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: Definition, Molecular Mechanisms, and Advances in Precision Therapy

open access: yesCancer Innovation, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2026.
Radioiodine‐refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (RAIR‐DTC) management now spans selective kinase inhibitors, MAPK‐pathway redifferentiation, VEGFR multikinase TKIs, and biomarker‐driven immunotherapy. We propose a three‐axis decision framework integrating molecular driver, evidence level, and patient dimension to guide individualized treatment ...

Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy for Oligoprogressive Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvances in Radiation Oncology, 2021
Purpose: Oligoprogression, defined as limited sites of progression on systemic therapy, in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) is not uncommon, possibly because of inter- and intratumoral heterogeneity.

Stereotactic radiotherapy to oligoprogressive lesions detected with 68Ga-PSMA-PET/CT in castration-resistant prostate cancer patients.

open access: yes, 2021
Purpose We assessed the outcomes of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to treat oligoprogressive castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients with

A new perspective on cancer treatment: the interaction and application prospect between ICIs and radiotherapy

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 184-191, June 2026.
The combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and radiotherapy synergistically enhances efficacy through an “antigen release‐immune activation” closed‐loop mechanism, significantly improving outcomes in solid tumors (e.g., lung cancer, melanoma).

Durable disease control with local treatment for oligoprogression of metastatic solid tumors treated with immune checkpoint blockade

open access: yesCancer Treatment and Research Communications, 2020
Background: While the concept of oligometastatic disease is increasingly recognized as a distinct clinical disease state, the concept of oligoprogression is less well-characterized.

Clinical factors associated with shorter durable response, and patterns of acquired resistance to first-line pembrolizumab monotherapy in PD-L1-positive non-small-cell lung cancer patients: a retrospective multicenter study

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2021
Background Despite the wide-spread use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in cancer chemotherapy, reports on patients developing acquired resistance (AR) to ICI therapy are scarce.

First‐Line Alectinib Versus Ceritinib With or Without Brain Radiotherapy in ALK‐Positive Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer with Brain Metastases: A Real‐World Multicenter Study from Vietnam

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 12, June 2026.
Alectinib demonstrated superior intracranial disease control and systemic efficacy compared with ceritinib in Vietnamese patients with ALK‐positive NSCLC and brain metastases. Upfront brain radiotherapy appeared to provide greater benefit when combined with ceritinib than with alectinib (exploratory, interaction p > 0.6).

Fruquintinib Plus TAS‐102 With or Without SBRT as Third‐ Or Later‐Line Therapy for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: Preliminary Results From a Prospective Phase II Trial

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Both fruquintinib and TAS‐102 monotherapies are guideline‐recommended for third‐line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). This study aimed to analyze the preliminary outcomes of fruquintinib combined with TAS‐102, with or without stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), as a third‐ or later‐line therapy for mCRC.
