PAHs, PCBs and OCPs in olive oil during the fruit ripening period of olive fruits
Because of their possible carcinogenic effects, it is crucial to determine levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in olive oils. However, there are a few studies about these pollutants' levels in olive oils and no other studies reported PAHs, PCBs and OCPs at the same ...

Monopotassium Phosphate for Olive Fruit Abscission [PDF]
World olive production covers 9.5 × 106 ha and yields 2.5 × 106 t of olive oil and 1.25 × 106 t of table olives annually (IOOC, 2002). For both oil and table production, harvest represents a critical expense to the farmer, costing as much as 50% of total crop value.

Dry matter (DM) of olive fruit (cv. Leccino) constantly increased from fruit-set (mid-June) to the end of October. The oil content increased rapidly from the beginning of August, about 40-50 d after full bloom (AFB), to the end of October. As the oil content increased, the saccharide content decreased.
