Should the use of omeprazole be allowed during equestrian competition? [PDF]

open access: yesEquine Vet J
Abstract Background Prioritising equine welfare, making evidenced‐based policy, and consistent decision‐making across sports are crucial to maintaining the social licence for equestrian sport. Regulations on the use of omeprazole during competition differ; all regulators argue that their rules prioritise welfare. This discrepancy is a matter of concern

Absence of Epidermal Antibodies in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis Patients but Beware of Single Positive Results. [PDF]

open access: yesDermatol Res Pract
Background. Stevens–Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are rare and potentially life‐threatening mucocutaneous blistering diseases that clinically can resemble autoimmune bullous diseases. Moreover, it has been shown that autoantibodies against epidermal proteins are present in SJS/TEN. Objectives.

Opioid‐free anaesthesia for surgical attenuation of a congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt in a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 11, Issue 3, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Animals with impaired hepatic metabolism may experience reduced effect from some anaesthetic drugs and are more prone to developing unwanted side effects. Due to reduced blood flow to the liver, it is important to carefully select anaesthetic drugs in patients with extrahepatic shunt.

Studying molecular interactions via capillary electrophoresis and microscale thermophoresis: A review

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 44, Issue 13-14, Page 1114-1142, July 2023., 2023
Abstract The process of choosing the most proper technique for studying the molecular interactions is based on critical factors such as instrumentation complexity, automation, experimental procedures, analysis time, consumables, and cost‐value. This review has tracked the use of affinity capillary electrophoresis (ACE) and microscale thermophoresis ...

Dynamic intermittent compression cryotherapy with intravenous nefopam results in faster pain recovery than static compression cryotherapy with oral nefopam: post‐anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 10, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the effectiveness of dynamic intermittent compression cryotherapy (DICC) (CryoNov®) with an intravenous nefopam‐based pain management protocol (DCIVNPP) in reducing post‐operative pain following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) compared to static compression cryotherapy (SCC) (Igloo®) and oral Nefopam ...
