Intercomparison of Multiple Satellite Aerosol Products against AERONET over the North China Plain

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
In this study, using Aerosol Robotic Network aerosol optical depth (AOD) products at three stations in the North China Plain (NCP)—a heavily polluted region in China—the AOD products from six satellite-borne radiometers: the Moderate ...

Porphyromonas gingivalis Outer Membrane Vesicles‐Associated DNA Triggers Inflammation by Inducing IL‐6 in Astrocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, EarlyView.
Pg releases OMVs which contain Pg genomic DNA. The Pg OMVs‐associated DNA is incorporated into astrocytes via endocytosis and increases IL‐6 mRNA expression via TLR9. These effects of Pg OMVs may induce neuroinflammation, which could contribute to the onset and progression of AD in periodontal disease.

Saharan dust detection using multi-sensor satellite measurements

open access: yesHeliyon, 2017
Contemporary scientists have vested interest in trying to understand the climatology of the North Atlantic Basin since this region is considered as the genesis for hurricane formation that eventually get shipped to the tropical Atlantic region and the ...

Spectral characterization of three wearable electronic ultraviolet radiation dosimeters

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation poses significant public health risks, including DNA damage and skin‐related pathologies. Wearable electronic UV dosimeters enable accurate studies and quantification of solar UV‐radiation exposure on an individual level. Due to variations in the spectral distribution of solar radiation, the spectral mismatch

Sun-as-a-Star Spectral Line Variability in the 300–2390 nm Wavelength Range

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Combining the near-daily Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) and Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) measurements of solar spectra, we construct line indices (line-core to line-flanks ratios) for various transitions (mainly Fe i ) in the 300–2390 ...

Observed vertical distribution of tropospheric ozone during the Asian summertime monsoon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We characterize the horizontal and vertical distribution of tropospheric ozone measured by the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) over North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Amacrine cell inputs to OFF midget ganglion cells in macaque retina

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The goal of this study was to explain the findings from physiological studies that OFF midget ganglion cells had larger receptive field centers than expected from their dendritic field diameters. First, we confirmed that OFF mRGCs (OFF MGC) receive input from diffuse bipolar cells (DB) as well as OFF midget bipolar cells (FMB ...

A New Global Anthropogenic SO2 Emission Inventory for the Last Decade: A Mosaic of Satellite-Derived and Bottom-Up Emissions [PDF]

open access: yes
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) measurements from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) satellite sensor have been used to detect emissions from large point sources.

A Novel Methodology for Probing the Observed Influence of the QBO on Tropical Tropospheric Climate

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract The stratospheric Quasi‐Biennial Oscillation (QBO) is characterized by descending bands of wind and temperature anomalies in the tropical stratosphere with a mean period of ∼28 months. Numerous studies have argued that the QBO has a significant impact on tropical tropospheric climate.

Assessment of 10 Year Record of Aerosol Optical Depth from OMI UV Observations [PDF]

open access: yes
The Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) onboard the EOS-Aura satellite provides information on aerosol optical properties by making use of the large sensitivity to aerosol absorption in the near-ultraviolet (UV) spectral region. Another important advantage
