Three-dimensional (3D) chromatin structure plays a critical role in development, gene regulation, and cellular identity. Alterations to this structure can have profound effects on cellular phenotypes and have been associated with a variety of diseases including multiple types of cancer.

Abl: the prototype of oncogenic fusion proteins.
Cellular and molecular life sciences : CMLS, 2005Since it was first recognized, chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has always represented a unique model to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of a leukemic process. CML was the first recognized form of cancer to have a strong association with a recurrent chromosomal abnormality, the t(9;22) translocation, which ...

Abstract 4968: Modes of co-factor recruitment by an oncogenic fusion protein
Cancer Research, 2010Abstract Ewing's sarcoma (ESFT) is a highly aggressive pediatric cancer of the bone and characterized by the chimeric ETS transcription factor EWS-FLI1 as a result of a chromosomal translocation. By whole genome gene expression and ChIP-seq analyses we obtained evidence that EWS-FLI1 directly regulates E2F target genes and possibly ...

Abstract A68: Posttranslational modifications of the oncogenic fusion protein EWS/FLI1
Cancer Research, 2014Abstract Ewing sarcoma is a pediatric tumor that affects bone and soft tissues. It is characterized in the majority of cases by the presence of a chromosomal translocation that leads to the expression of the oncogenic transcription factor, EWS/FLI1.

The oncogenic fusion protein EWS/NOR-1 induces transformation of CFK2 chondrogenic cells
Experimental Cell Research, 2004The EWS/NOR-1 fusion protein is encoded by the t(9;22) chromosomal translocation found in approximately 75% of extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC) tumors. The lack of cellular models in which the oncogenic properties of this fusion protein are expressed has seriously hampered the study of its role in the development of EMC.

PROTEIN-PROTEIN INTERACTION NETWORK PERTURBATIONS CAUSED BY ONCOGENIC FUSION EVENTS
144 pages ; Supplemental file(s) description: None. ; Proteins rarely work in isolation but rather function in combinations and complexes. Considering diseases driven by changes at the network level, rather than at the individual protein level has driven the recent development of the strategy of drugging “networks.” My research focuses on gene fusions, openaire +2 more sources
