A model for the prediction of Oncomelania hupensis in the lake and marshland regions, China
Parasitology International, 2008A model has been developed for predicting the density of Oncomelania hupensis, the intermediate host snail of Schistosoma japonicum. The model takes into account different environmental factors, including elevation, air and soil temperature, type of vegetation, mean height of preponderant vegetation and soil humidity.

[Hemocyte morphology and classification in Oncomelania hupensis].
Zhongguo ji sheng chong xue yu ji sheng chong bing za zhi = Chinese journal of parasitology & parasitic diseases, 2015Hemocytes were collected from Oncomelania hupensis in Junshan, Hunan Province and Puge, Sichuan Province, respectively, and stained with Giemsa solution for light microscopic examination. The cells were classified morphologically. Five types of hemocytes were identified, viz., large acidophilic hyalinocytes, small acidophilic hyalinocytes, basophilic ...

[Progress of research on taxonomy of Oncomelania hupensis].
Zhongguo xue xi chong bing fang zhi za zhi = Chinese journal of schistosomiasis control, 2013In the early periods, the research on taxonomy of Oncomelania hupensis mainly focused on the traditional methods--morphology and anatomy, and then numerical taxonomy, cytogenetics, and population genetics are used in this discipline. With the advance of the molecular biology techniques, emerging technologies, such as restriction fragment length ...

[Advances on genetics and biological characteristics of Oncomelania hupensis].
Zhongguo ji sheng chong xue yu ji sheng chong bing za zhi = Chinese journal of parasitology & parasitic diseases, 2010This review focused on the research progress in genetic features of Oncomelania hupensis, including its relation to the snail distribution, susceptibility to Schistosoma japonicum. Series studies were done on genetic characteristics for snail distribution and its infectivity with S.

[Effect of Nerium indicum on killing Oncomelania hupensis].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2002A laboratory experiment at 20 +/- 5 degrees C shows that the water extract of fresh Nerium indicum had an obvious effect on killing Oncomelania hupensis. Treated with 0.1% water extract for four days, the mortality of O. hupensis was up to 100%. The effect of different tissues of N. indicum on O.

[Morphology and phagocytic activity of hemocytes of Oncomelania hupensis].
Zhongguo ji sheng chong xue yu ji sheng chong bing za zhi = Chinese journal of parasitology & parasitic diseases, 1994Hemocytes from Oncomelania hupensis hemolymph were studied in vitro. Spreading amoebocytes were the most common cell type. The average sizes of amoebocytes from Anhui and Yunnan were 8.42 +/- 0.73 x 7.46 +/- 0.52 microns and 7.63 +/- 0.65 x 6.85 +/- 0.54 microns, respectively.

Zhongguo xue xi chong bing fang zhi za zhi = Chinese journal of schistosomiasis control, 2014The wetland is the unique ecosystem that is formed by the interaction between water and land on the earth surface. At present, the wetland ecology and wetland protection is becoming a more and more attention. Oncomelania hupensis is also a wetland creature that is the only snail host for spreading schistosomiasis japonica.
