One- and two-dimensional finite element modelling of thaw consolidation
Coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical finite element (FE) modelling of thaw consolidation is presented. One-dimensional FE analyses are performed for thaw consolidation of a soil column due to self-weight and with a combination of self-weight and surcharge ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Exact solutions for one-dimensional thermal consolidation of single-layer saturated soil
The consolidation under the non-isothermal field has long been the research focus. Based on the governing equations which take seepage flow into consideration, a new method to obtain exact solutions for one-dimensional thermal consolidation of single ...

One-dimensional test problems for dynamic consolidation
Closed-form solutions are presented for some one-dimensional problems involving the dynamic response of saturated porous media. These solutions are useful for validating finite element codes for dynamic consolidation of soil.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Probabilistic Analysis of One-Dimensional Consolidation with Monte Carlo Simulations
Themeasured coefficient of consolidation can have a substantial degreeof variation even in a uniform clay layer. This paper examines the variability of one-dimensional consolidationsolutions through a probabilistic analysis.
