One-dimensional opal photonic crystals
Photonics and Nanostructures - Fundamentals and Applications, 2008Abstract One-dimensional opals are 1D self-assembled close packed colloidal crystals consisting of monodisperse colloidal globules. Polystyrene globules with sizes in the 1.9–10 μm range sit on a flat substrate and touch two neighbors in diametrally opposite contact points. These opals are quasi-1D photonic crystals.

Omnidirectional reflection from a one-dimensional photonic crystal
Optics Letters, 1998We demonstrate that one-dimensional photonic crystal structures (such as multilayer films) can exhibit complete reflection of radiation in a given frequency range for all incident angles and polarizations. We derive a general criterion for this behavior that does not require materials with very large indices.

Electro-optics in a one dimensional photonic crystals
Postconference Digest Quantum Electronics and Laser Science, 2003. QELS., 2003Electro-optic phase modulation in one-dimensional photonic crystals with the possibility of total internal reflection is investigated. The compactness and other design features of this type of modulation can offer significant advantages over present modulation schemes.

Simulation of defects in one-dimensional photonic crystal
2017 IEEE 37th International Conference on Electronics and Nanotechnology (ELNANO), 2017A set of modeling defects in one-dimensional photonic crystal and their impact on reflectivity as a function of the wavelength of the incident wave is presented. Electric-field profiles for various situations are shown. The simulation based on the transfer-matrix method.

Wave propagation in one-dimensional photonic crystals
Optics Communications, 1998We study the gap phenomenon in one-dimensional photonic crystals. Using a classical characterization of forbidden bands, we show that it is possible to define a semi-infinite crystal. Besides, we precise the behavior of the field in the semi-infinite structure for wavelengths belonging to a forbidden band.

A One-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Rib Waveguide
Integrated Photonics and Nanophotonics Research and Applications / Slow and Fast Light, 2007We introduced a new type of 1-D PC rib waveguide (PCRW). Simulations of the structure showed an extremely wide photonic band gap. Furthermore, the loss can be controlled by increasing the waveguide height.

Thermooptical switching in a one-dimensional photonic crystal
Technical Physics Letters, 2006The temperature dependence of the optical transmission spectrum of a one-dimensional multilayer photonic crystal structure with a central defect layer has been studied. The defect was represented by a nematic liquid crystal (5CB) layer with a homeotropic orientation.
