Realization of high-Q/V photonic crystal cavities defined by an effective Aubry-André-Harper bichromatic potential

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2017
We report on the realization of high-Q/V photonic crystal cavities in thin silicon membranes, with resonances around 1.55 μm wavelength. The cavity designs are based on a recently proposed photonic

Laser interference lithography with highly accurate interferometric alignment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Three dimensional photonic crystals, e.g. for obtaining the so-called woodpile structure, can, among others, be fabricated by vertical stacking of multiple gratings. One of the requirements for obtaining a full photonic bandgap in such a photonic crystal

Microwave transmission through an artificial atomic chain coupled to a superconducting photonic crystal

open access: yes, 2019
Emitters strongly coupled to a photonic crystal provide a powerful platform for realizing novel quantum light-matter interactions. Here we study the optical properties of a three-level artificial atomic chain coupled to a one-dimensional superconducting ...

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Pressure dependent sensitivity enhancement in a one dimensional photonic crystal with defects

open access: yesNext Materials
Photonic materials especially in lower dimension attract a lot of attention in the last two decades, because of their application in optical devices and sensors are of prime importance. Several biomedical applications have also been suggested.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Non-linear photonic crystals as a source of entangled photons

open access: yes, 2004
Non-linear photonic crystals can be used to provide phase-matching for frequency conversion in optically isotropic materials. The phase-matching mechanism proposed here is a combination of form birefringence and phase velocity dispersion in a periodic ...

One-dimensional photonic crystal: The Kronig-Penney model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
URL:http://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevB.68.045121 DOI:10.1103/PhysRevB.68.045121We formulate the photonic band-structure problem for a one-dimensional photonic crystal in terms of the reflection and transmission coefficients, obtaining a ...

Observation of Two‐Photon Resonant Raman Scattering via the Biexciton Level in Two‐Dimensional Halide Perovskite (C6H5C2H4NH3)2PbI4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Efficient two‐photon resonant Raman scattering (TRRS) is observed in the layered perovskite (PEA)2PbI4, with the biexciton level acting as an intermediate state. TRRS undergoes two‐photon frequency shift upon input frequency tuning, persists up to 90 K, and shows clear threshold behavior and polarization selection rules.

Spectral transformations in the regime of pulse self-trapping in a nonlinear photonic crystal

open access: yes, 2011
We consider interaction of a femtosecond light pulse with a one-dimensional photonic crystal with relaxing cubic nonlinearity in the regime of self-trapping.
