Stability and error analysis of one-leg methods for nonlinear delay differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1999
This paper studies the numerical stability of nonlinear delay differential equations from the viewpoint of one-leg methods with linear interpolation. It is shown that if these methods are \(A\)-stable or strongly \(A\)-stable in the non-delay case then they will be similarly stable in the delay case.

Pain and Patient‐Reported Physical Function Did Not Differ Among Body Composition Profiles in Patients With Hip Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To explore whether higher body fat and lower lean mass are associated with greater pain and worse patient‐reported physical function in individuals with hip osteoarthritis (OA). A secondary aim was to examine whether pain and patient‐reported physical function differ according to four body composition profiles: high body fat, low lean mass ...

Research and Mechanism Design Analysis of Leg Lifting Device Based on Human Body Stretching

open access: yesMachines
Leg stretching devices are one of the main instruments used to improve human function. To solve the limitations of existing leg stretching products, such as single function and low degree of coincidence, a leg stretching device satisfying ergonomics was ...

Obesity Subtypes and Longitudinal Trajectories of Function Over Seven Years of Follow‐Up: Data From the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Obesity, defined by body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m2, is a risk factor for functional limitations in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, function varies among such individuals. Our objective was to evaluate the implications of obesity subtypes on longitudinal patterns of physical functioning in people with or at risk for knee OA ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Exploratory Associations Among Lower-Limb Strength, Selected Isokinetic Knee-Extension Variables, Countermovement Jump Flight Time, and Short-Duration Anaerobic Power in Healthy Male University Students

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Background: Lower-limb performance is commonly assessed using maximal strength, isokinetic, jump, and anaerobic power tests, but whether these assessments provide overlapping or complementary information in healthy young adults without recent regular ...

Machine Learning‐Assisted Inverse Design of Soft and Multifunctional Hybrid Liquid Metal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning framework is presented for inverse design of synthesizable multifunctional composites containing both liquid metal and solid inclusions. By integrating physics‐based modeling, data‐driven prediction, and Bayesian optimization, the approach enables intelligent design of experiments to identify optimal compositions and realize these ...

Convergence and stability of the one-leg θ method for stochastic differential equations with piecewise continuous arguments

open access: yesFilomat, 2019
The equivalent relation is established here about the stability of stochastic differential equations with piecewise continuous arguments(SDEPCAs) and that of the one-leg ? method applied to the SDEPCAs. Firstly, the convergence of the one-leg ? method to SDEPCAs under the global Lipschitz condition is proved. Secondly, it is proved that the
