Theoretical open-loop model of respiratory mechanics in the extremely preterm infant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Non-invasive ventilation is increasingly used for respiratory support in preterm infants, and is associated with a lower risk of chronic lung disease.

Biomimetic Copper‐Doped Nano‐Aluminum Adjuvant Potentiates Therapy in Chemoresistant Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a novel copper‐doped aluminum nano‐adjuvant (CuNA) to overcome cytarabine resistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). CuNA effectively sensitizes drug‐resistant AML cells to cytarabine by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibiting HMGCR/GPX4 to amplify ferroptosis.

Smart Face Masks as Wearable Respiratory Sensors: A Review of Sensor Technologies, Materials, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in smart face masks that actively monitor breathing. By integrating humidity, gas, temperature, pressure, strain, and triboelectric sensors, these masks track key respiratory parameters in real time. The article summarizes sensor mechanisms, compares performance across studies, and discusses challenges and future ...

Rare case of tracheal bronchus in a patient posted for minimal invasive cardiac surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2020
The tracheal bronchus is a rare congenital anomaly which occurs as a result of an additional tracheal outgrowth early in the embryonic life. It originates more commonly from the right wall of the trachea, above the carina.

CORE: Cholesterol Altered Lipid Nanoparticles for Splenic Expression of mRNA Payloads

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper researchers introduce CORE LNPs, a new class of lipid nanoparticles engineered to redirect mRNA expression away from the liver and into the spleen, a key immune organ. By combining chemical design with computational tools, they created cholesterol analogs that enable precise spleen‐targeted expression, providing greater applications for ...

Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic
