Immune‐Related Prognostic Gene Identification in Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma With the Cancer Genome Atlas Mining and Immunohistochemistry Validation

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In the cancer microenvironment, stromal and immune cells hold clinical importance. In lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC), the aim of this study was to find immune‐linked gene expression that has prognostic pertinence. Methods From the Cancer Genome Atlas, this study obtained the LSCC gene expression profile.

FOXC1: A Key Transcription Factor of VSMC‐Derived Foam Cell Formation in Atherosclerotic Plaque Instability

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The instability of atherosclerotic plaques, particularly intraplaque hemorrhage (IPH), drives life‐threatening cardiovascular events, a process in which vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC)‐derived foam cells play a significant role. We aim to identify key biomarkers associated with VSMC‐derived foam cells and IPH by analyzing data from human ...

Mass Spectrometry Insights Into Post‐Translational Modifications in Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane‐enclosed structures secreted by virtually all living cells, serving as essential mediators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological processes. There is growing interest in their potential applications as biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and drug delivery systems, which ...

Myeloid Focal Adhesion Kinase Promotes Macrophage Accumulation but Does Not Alter Tumor Progression in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) develops within an immunologically complex tumor microenvironment that is heavily shaped by infiltrating myeloid cells. Immune‐based treatment strategies such as atezolizumab plus bevacizumab have shown promising therapeutic benefits, but patients do not experience durable responses.

Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cell–Derived Exosomes Attenuate Renal Fibrosis by Suppressing Fibroblast Activation via the INHBA/PI3K/AKT Pathway

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
MSC‐Exo derived from human umbilical cord (HucMSC‐Exo) downregulates INHBA expression, consequently modulating the PI3K/AKT signaling cascade. This regulation attenuates renal fibroblast activation and extracellular matrix deposition, thereby exerting a renoprotective effect against fibrosis.

Using art history to explore society's changing connections with agriculture

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Food insecurity is a looming challenge that especially affects those least fortunate. Consumer food choices have a substantial impact on the sustainability of current food systems. Here, we use art as a lens through which to consider our contemporary and historical relationship to one of the world's most crucial crops, the potato, in the context of the
