EIF5A Couples Translational Control With Transcriptional Reprogramming Through Chromocenter Reorganization During Spermiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The translation factor Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) is essential for male fertility in mice. It supports the translation of proteins crucial for heterochromatin organization and acrosome formation. eIF5A deficiency disrupts chromocenter integrity, increases chromatin accessibility, and causes transcriptional dysregulation ...

Automatically Defining Protein Words for Diverse Functional Predictions Based on Attention Analysis of a Protein Language Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Understanding protein sequence–function relationships remains challenging due to poorly defined motifs and limited residue‐level annotations. An annotation‐agnostic framework is introduced that segments protein sequences into “protein words” using attention patterns from protein language models.

Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...

Electric and Temperature Field‐Modulated Periodic Repair of the Electrode/Electrolyte Interface toward Long Cycle Stability of Low‐Temperature Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This study introduces a temperature‐electric field synergy strategy to enhance lithium‐ion battery performance at low temperatures. It reveals interfacial mechanisms: low temperatures cause deterioration, while room temperature aids stable interphase formation.
