open access: yesPapers in Historical Phonology, 2018
*mbl-/*mbr- (Ratliff 2010) and *m.l(ɣ)-/*m.r(ɣ)- (Ostapirat 2016) have been proposed as reconstructions for correspondence sets that include NCL-, CL-, N-, and C- onsets across the Hmong-Mien family.

Evidence for the p-center syllable-nucleus-onset correspondence hypothesis

open access: yesZAS Papers in Linguistics, 1996
The question of whether or not the vowel onset is the parameter responsible for the rhythmical alignment in timing speech utterances still remains unclear. The experiment described here supports the hypothesis of a congruence between the mental representation of the syllable-nucleus-onset and the moment of occururence or so-called p-center.
