A Higher Estradiol Rise After Dual Trigger in Progestin-Primed Ovarian Stimulation Is Associated With a Lower Oocyte and Mature Oocyte Yield in Normal Responders

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Background: Prior studies have shown that patients with a >10% estradiol (E2) rise after trigger had more oocytes retrieved than plateauing or decreasing E2 responders.

Nonequilibrium dissipation in living oocytes [PDF]

open access: yesEPL 116, 30008 (2016), 2015
Living organisms are inherently out-of-equilibrium systems. We employ new developments in stochastic energetics and rely on a minimal microscopic model to predict the amount of mechanical energy dissipated by such dynamics. Our model includes complex rheological effects and nonequilibrium stochastic forces.

Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Stress and Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) in Mammalian Oocyte Maturation and Preimplantation Embryo Development

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Mammalian oocytes and early embryos derived from in vitro production are highly susceptible to a variety of cellular stresses. During oocyte maturation and preimplantation embryo development, functional proteins must be folded properly in the endoplasmic

Is there an optimal timing interval between hCG trigger and oocyte vitrification?

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2022
Objective: Oocyte vitrification has been developed as a promising alternative to slow freezing; however, the clinical outcome is highly operator dependent.

Supplementation of rapamycin during in vitro maturation promotes oocyte quality and subsequent embryo development in bovine

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2023
Background The developmental competence of oocyte derived from in vitro maturation (IVM) is significantly lower than those of oocyte matured in vivo. Rapamycin is an immunosuppressive substance and widely used to prolong the survival and preserve the ...

Impact of stress on oocyte quality and reproductive outcome

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Sciences, 2016
Stress is an important factor that affects physical and mental status of a healthy person disturbing homeostasis of the body. Changes in the lifestyle are one of the major causes that lead to psychological stress.

Follicular fluid content and oocyte quality: from single biochemical markers to metabolomics

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2009
The assessment of oocyte quality in human in vitro fertilization (IVF) is getting increasing attention from embryologists. Oocyte selection and the identification of the best oocytes, in fact, would help to limit embryo overproduction and to improve the ...

A novel mechanism of bulk cytoplasmic transport by cortical dynein in Drosophila ovary

open access: yeseLife, 2022
Cytoplasmic dynein, a major minus-end directed microtubule motor, plays essential roles in eukaryotic cells. Drosophila oocyte growth is mainly dependent on the contribution of cytoplasmic contents from the interconnected sister cells, nurse cells.

Regulation of Mammalian Oocyte Meiosis by Intercellular Communication Within the Ovarian Follicle.

open access: yesAnnual Review of Physiology, 2017
Meiotic progression in mammalian preovulatory follicles is controlled by the granulosa cells around the oocyte. Cyclic GMP (cGMP) generated in the granulosa cells diffuses through gap junctions into the oocyte, maintaining meiotic prophase arrest ...
