Differential gene expression in Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt, 1821) (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) induced by Wolbachia infection

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Distinct lineages of the grasshopper Chorthippus parallelus (Orthoptera: Acrididae) form a well‐known hybrid zone (HZ) in the Pyrenees mountain range; the Iberian endemism C. p. erythropus (Cpe) and the subspecies C. p. parallelus, (Cpp) widely distributed throughout the rest of Europe. Both subspecies differ in diverse traits, including the strains of

Molecular Method Based on Hydrolysis Probe Assays to Identify the Sex Chromosomes of Iberian Desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) Using Non‐Invasive Sampling

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
To monitor populations of an endangered species such as Galemys pyrenaicus in the Extremadura area, qPCR techniques have been used to determine sex, using non‐invasive sampling techniques. ABSTRACT Desmans belong to the subfamily Desmaninae, which are members of the family Talpidae.

Understanding the impact of host plant factors on the oviposition behaviour of the cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala)

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
The cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is an important pest of oilseed rape (Brassica napus) in Europe. The objective of the present study was to gain a better understanding of host plant related factors affecting its oviposition behaviour with the aim of developing new sustainable control strategies.

Telomerase reverse transcriptase gene knock‐in unleashes enhanced longevity and accelerated damage repair in mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2025.
Tert knock‐in (TertKI) mice harboring the EF1α‐Tert gene in the Rosa26 locus displayed heightened telomerase activity, elongated telomeres, and extended lifespan. TertKI mice displayed enhanced wound healing and exhibited resistance to the progression of colitis.
