STORAGE AND GERMINATION OF CHARA OOSPORES
Journal of Phycology, 1967SUMMARY Germination tests were conducted on 39 collections of Chara oospores stored under 4 different conditions for periods of approximately 4 yr. In general, storage of dried oospores at low temperatures (3 C) provided the most satisfactory means for long‐term preservation of viable disseminules.

Oospore production of Pythium artotrogus
Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1969The addition of cholesterol, b-sitosterol, stigmasterol and compost infusion to corn meal agar induced marked increases (four-fold) in oospore production, with only a small stimulation of growth rate. Progesterone stimulated oospore production, but inhibited growth. Estrone had no effect on reproduction, but inhibited growth.

Production of oospores by Peronospora viciae f.sp. fabae
Netherlands Journal of Plant Pathology, 1993Oospore production inVicia faba, cv. Metissa, was quantified in the field after plants had been inoculated with a sporangium suspension of a homothallic isolate ofPeronospora viciae f.sp.fabae. Oospores were produced abundantly during the hole growing season from 3 weeks after inoculation on.

THE ROLE OF OOSPORES IN THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF POTATO LATE BLIGHT
Acta Horticulturae, 2009Potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans) is a plant disease feared globally by farmers and the potato industry. P. infestans is a heterothallic oomycete with two mating types. Until recently the pathogen was limited to surviving between seasons as living mycelia in its host plant in most parts of the world.

Evolution of Qol resistance in Plasmopara viticola oospores
European Journal of Plant Pathology, 2010QoI resistance in P. viticola was first detected in France and Italy in 1999. Molecular and biological assays have been carried out since 2000 in order to provide reliable methods of detecting and quantifying resistance. Oospores were collected in vineyards located in northern and southern Italy.

Viability and maturation ofAphanomyces cochlioidesoospores
Mycologia, 2003Plasmolysis, tetrazolium bromide staining and microscopic appearance were tested for their usefulness in determining viability of oospores of Aphanomyces cochlioides. For comparison, three lethal treatments were employed to contrast the reaction of dead oospores and untreated, presumably viable oospores.

Germination of Oospores of Phytophthora erythroseptica
Nature, 1957GERMINATION of comparatively young oospores of Phytophthora erythroseptica has been obtained following passage through the digestive tract of the garden snail, Helix aspersa. These oospores were produced in oat agar cultures maintained at 20° C. for 4–6 weeks.

Assessment of QoI resistance in Plasmopara viticola oospores
Pest Management Science, 2006AbstractQoI fungicides, inhibitors of mitochondrial respiration at the Qo site of cytochrome b in the mitochondrial bc1 enzyme complex, are commonly applied in vineyards against Plasmopara viticola (Berk. & MA Curtis) Berl. & De Toni. Numerous treatments per year with QoI fungicides can lead to the selection of resistant strains in the pathogen
