ULTRASTRUCTURE OF OOSPORE GERMINATION IN PYTHIUM APHANIDERMATUM
American Journal of Botany, 1978Transmission electron microscopy was used in an examination of dormant and germinating oospores of Pythium aphanidermatum (Edson) Fitzp. Predominant cytoplasmic components of the dormant oospore were a single, centrally located globule and numerous storage bodies surrounding the globule.

Journal of Phytopathology, 2000
A method was elaborated to isolate oospores of Plasmopara halstedii from tissue of its host, Helianthus annuus. Isolated oospores were studied microscopically and germination was documented with respect to the time course and the mode of germination.

Phytophthora kernoviae oospore maturity, germination, and infection
Fungal Biology, 2010Limited information is known on the basic biology of the recently described Phytophthora kernoviae that produces homothallic oospores. In this study, different P. kernoviae isolates were used to investigate oospore maturity, germination, and infection. All isolates produced oospores in V8 broth at 20°C in the dark by 6d.

Infection of lettuce by oospores of Bremia lactucae
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1983A procedure which increased the frequency with which sexual progeny were recovered is described for Bremia lactucae. This facilitated the observation of penetration resulting from such infection.

Formation of oospores in vivo by Phytophthora palmivora
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1969Oospores of Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) Butl. were formed in host tissue when detached leaves of Piper nigrum were inoculated with an isolate of each compatibility type and incubated at 15–27·5°C in the dark. Oospores were not formed at 30°, and at 22·5° their formation was inhibited by light.
