Pathogenic and Molecular Characterisation of Hyaloperonospora sp. Isolates Causing Downy Mildew on Wild Rocket

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Downy mildew causes rapid and severe foliar losses in D. tenuifolia. The existence of pathotype diversity hinders resistance breeding. This study identified H. diplotaxidis pathotypes and analysed their phylogenetic relationships. ABSTRACT Downy mildew (DM) caused by the oomycete Hyaloperonospora diplotaxidis (=Peronospora diplotaxidis) is a ...

Vegetation trajectories over 150 years of temporary ponds created in the Camargue delta (Southern France)

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 5, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Temporary ponds in the Mediterranean climate have a high conservation value, but many have been severely destroyed or degraded. Pond restoration and new pond creation have been engaged widely. Evaluations of the success of such operations are generally carried out over 10–15 years and show divergent results over this timeframe. In

Deciphering the soybean root rot pathogen Phytophthora sojae: Signaling pathways, transcriptional regulation, and effector biology

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2026.
This review highlights how Phytophthora sojae utilizes unconventional lineage‐specific signaling networks, including unique G protein‐coupled receptor fusions, expanded kinases, and rapidly evolving effectors, to infect soybeans. Understanding these divergent molecular paradigms reveals critical vulnerabilities in this destructive pathogen, offering ...

Analysis of Aphanomyces euteiches in Swedish Commercial Pea Field Soils and in Legume Cover Crops Using Droplet Digital PCR

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Workflow for investigation of Aphanomyces euteiches occurrence in 24 field soil samples collected from different regions in Sweden using droplet digital PCR and bioassays with susceptible pea cv. Linnea. ABSTRACT Aphanomyces root rot (ARR), caused by Aphanomyces euteiches, is a major constraint in pea (Pisum sativum) production.

Sexual Reproduction of Plasmopara viticola in Wine Regions of Southern Brazil, Climatic Suitability, Oospore Formation and Germination

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
This is the first study to confirm Plasmopara viticola oospore formation in all major wine‐growing regions of southern Brazil and oospore germination under local conditions on susceptible and resistant hosts, and to apply ecological niche modelling to predict climatic suitability for oospore formation.

Phenotypic and Genotypic Structure of Phytophthora infestans Populations Infecting Tomato in Türkiye

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Integrated phenotypic and SSR analyses show that tomato‐infecting Phytophthora infestans populations in Türkiye are predominantly clonal and dominated by the 1_A1 lineage, indicating host‐associated population structuring and providing insights for disease management and resistance breeding. ABSTRACT Phytophthora infestans, causing late blight, remains

Mating type distribution of Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary in the Czech Republic in 2007 and 2008

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2010
A total of 195 isolates of Phytophthora infestans were collected from late blight-diseased potatoes grown in several localities in the Czech Republic during the years 2007-2008.

Comparative Amplicon and Shotgun Metagenome Profiling of Soil Microbial Communities in Kauri Forests Affected by Phytophthora agathidicida

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
Soils beneath symptomatic and asymptomatic kauri trees were analysed using LAMP, amplicon sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and PICRUSt2. LAMP detected Phytophthora agathidicida in 39/60 samples, while shotgun metagenomics detected it at low abundance across all samples.

Morphological and reproductive differences among three charophyte species in response to variation in water depth

open access: yesAquatic Biology, 2015
Some charophyte species reproduce sexually by oospores and vegetatively by bulbils, and the proportion of branch whorls that contain reproductive organs can be used as quantitative measures of the degree of sexual reproduction. We examined inter-specific
