Abstract Phytophthora crown rot, caused by Phytophthora cactorum, is a soilborne disease with broad impacts on cultivated strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa). A resistance locus, RPc2, was previously identified in octoploid strawberries, but the underlying genomic architecture and causal genes remained uncharacterized.

Visualization of the impatiens downy mildew pathogen using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
Background Plasmopara obducens is the biotrophic oomycete responsible for impatiens downy mildew, a destructive disease of Impatiens that causes high crop loss. Currently, there are no available methods for the microscopic detection of P.

IMI/TMX priming induces resistance to Phytophthora capsici by balancing ROS and suppressing RNA‐seq‐identified susceptibility genes, including CaNEN4, for sustainable management of pepper Phytophthora blight. ABSTRACT The oomycete Phytophthora capsici causes Phytophthora blight, a major constraint on global pepper production.

Hydraulic effects of vessel-induced waves on early life stages of lake macrophytes
Background The impact of vessel-induced waves on macrophyte communities in lakes remains controversial, due to a lack of comprehensive assessments which also consider mechanistic effects on ecological processes during early life stages.

Sterols and the Production of Oospores by Phytophthora cactorum [PDF]
SUMMARY: The effect of eight sterols on oospore production by Phytophthora cactorum has been studied quantitatively. Their activity was found to be in the following order: β-sitosterol = Δ5-avenasterol = fucosterol = stigmasterol > cholesterol = 7-dehydro-cholesterol > ergosterol > cholestanol.
