An Infrared Imaging Study of the Bipolar Proto-Planetary Nebula IRAS 16594-4656

open access: yes, 2006
High-resolution mid-infrared images have been obtained in N-band and Q-band for the proto-planetary nebula IRAS 16594-4656. A bright equatorial torus and a pair of bipolar lobes can clearly be seen in the infrared images. The torus appears thinner at the

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Real-Time Market Abuse Detection with a Stochastic Parameter Model [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a new model of market abuse detection in real time. Market abuse is detected, as Minenna (2003) proposed, on the basis of prediction intervals.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Data-Driven Spatio-Temporal Filters for Crosstalk Reduction in High-Density Surface EMG

open access: yesIEEE Access
Objective: Spatial filters have been extensively studied to improve selectivity of information extraction from high density surface electromyography (HD-EMG). However, variations in volume conductors and experimental conditions require tailored solutions,

Analysis of Time – Frequency EEG Feature Extraction Methods for Mental Task Classification

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2017
Many endogenous and external components may affect the physiological, mental and behavioral states in humans. Monitoring tools are required to evaluate biomarkers, identify biological events, and predict their outcomes.

Measurement-based quantum control of mechanical motion

open access: yes, 2018
Controlling a quantum system based on the observation of its dynamics is inevitably complicated by the backaction of the measurement process. Efficient measurements, however, maximize the amount of information gained per disturbance incurred.

Microscale Fluid Behavior during Cryo-EM Sample Blotting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Blotting has been the standard technique for preparing aqueous samples for single-particle electron cryo-microscopy for over three decades. This technique removes the excess solution from a transmission electron microscope grid by pressing absorbent ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Spatial distribution of suspended particulate wastes at open-water Atlantic salmon and sablefish aquaculture farms in Canada

open access: yesAquaculture Environment Interactions, 2015
Finfish aquaculture results in the production of particulate waste products that include uneaten feed and faeces. The impact of these wastes on the suspended particle field at 4 open-water fish farms in Canada was studied using high-resolution in situ ...
