Prospects for Measuring Neutron-Star Masses and Radii with X-Ray Pulse Profile Modeling [PDF]
Modeling the amplitudes and shapes of the X-ray pulsations observed from hot, rotating neutron stars provides a direct method for measuring neutron-star properties.

ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Dundee’s Jute mills and factories: Spaces of production, surveillance and discipline [PDF]
Taking Dundee’s jute industry as its focus, this paper provides a geographical reading of the architectural form, design and layout of the mills and factories of the late nineteenth century. By tracking the change from the multi-storey to the shed system,

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Air-Jet Driven Open-End Spinning Frame
Air jet driving and supporting devices were tested for a high speed open-end spinning frame . Two types of rotors were prepared : the upper fluting rotor and the under fluting rotor. Each rotor was driven by air jet impinging upon the fluting directly from the nozzles prepared on the inner surfaces of a stator.

The diffusion of innovations in the world textile industry: does a country's level of economic development matter? [PDF]
This paper provides empirical evidence on how the international diffusion of industrial process innovations is affected by a country's level of economic development.

On the nondegeneracy of constant mean curvature surfaces
We prove that many complete, noncompact, constant mean curvature (CMC) surfaces $f:\Sigma \to \R^3$ are nondegenerate; that is, the Jacobi operator $\Delta_f + |A_f|^2$ has no $L^2$ kernel. In fact, if $\Sigma$ has genus zero and $f(\Sigma)$ is contained

We find classical open string solutions in the $AdS_5\times S^5/\Zop_2$ orientifold with angular momenta along the five-sphere. The energy of these solutions has an expansion in integral powers of $\lambda$ with sigma-model corrections suppressed by ...

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
